The efforts of the Bwanch were recognised by the County Office.
The certificate reflected the Brach’s work in increasing the awareness of the local community as to the purpose of The Royal British Legion and becoming more active in the community.
Some of this involvement is recorded in the next few pages.
Delegates had attended National and County Conferences. Mousehole RBL had become a major presence in the Land’s End Group providing both chairman and secretary.
Membership and fundraising for the Poppy Appeal had increased.
One sad note to record was the decision to remove Admiral Nelson’s portrait ( donated by renowned local artist Annie Bull ) from the walls.
The portrait was then offered and eagerly accepted by RNAS Culdrose who had nothing visible to commemorate him on their Trafalgar Days ceremony. The portrait now hangs in a prominent place in Culdrose with a brass plaque attached indicating that it is “On permanent loan from Mousehle Royal British Legion”
Wiring to the right of the portrait provided power for the PA and bingo system which was
housed on a small table by the partition which is just visible.
