Ceremonial & Remembrance
Remembrance Sunday is the central feature of Legion ceremony.
Mousehole RBL follows the current national pattern which, in addition to that particular Sunday, observes a Silent Tribute at the village’s war memorial on Armistice Day,
in those years when the two dates do not coincide.
No ceremony would be complete without the added impact of the Standard Bearers. Several members have carried Mousehole’s Standard over the years –
sometimes at short notice, committee minutes from show that Arnold Gartrell, served in this capacity, Lister Wallis also carried out the duty, ex-Marine Bob Sidey, brought that special ‘marine presence on to the scene in the 2000’s, young Jessica Brown’s carried the BranchStandard on numerous occasions including at the Albert Hall Festival of Remembrance, whilst a still extracted from the video record of the 2013 Armistice Day Parade shows present SB, Rohan Wingham on duty.
The Women’s Section has a separate Standard further details of which may be found on the earlier pages ( 31-35 ) dedicated to that formation.
The Blue and Gold Standards bring that sense of occasion to ceremonial events and the Bearers carry out their duties In all weathers.
The selection of photographs here and over the next pages are just a few of the very many which have been taken in recent years.
It would be wonderful if photos from earlier years could be found and added to this story.
