The Ladies had looked after Legion Hall during the war years and continued to be very active and involved when the menfolk returned. Eventually the decision was taken to REFORM the Women’s Section– chief among those ‘ reformers’ were Vi Wallis, (first Hon Sec), Stella Bartlett, Polly Cobb, Rene Richards, and Bessie Lashbrook, later the Madron and Reynolds families became the leading figures whilst who can forget Christine Wallis with Poppy Appeal collection box for any spare coins when ‘time’ was called on a Friday Night? And that dedication to P A collecting is still carried on in 2015 by daughter Michelle Maiden !
