Women’s Section Standard Bearers—and a fascinating family involvement.
(Names from the early years are not available at the moment but was is known is that:-
Chris Buttery held the office into the 1970’s before
Eileen Madron took over in 1974. Eileen held this post until 1996 when responsibility was handed to daughter Diane.
Diane ( pictured right) held it and took the whole image of Bearer to its highest level when she became Deputy National SB for the Women’s Section following an impressive and unbeatable period as Cornwall County SB and had the honour of carrying the National Standard on a Far East Tour—
( photos ) including the Bangkok Embassy. Mum, Eileen was also able to accompany Diane on this memorable trip.
Mother and daughter had both carried the Mousehole WS Standard at the RBL’s Festival of Remembrance in the Albert Hall, whilst to complete an credible story Diane’s daughter Jessica (Brown) who had become Branch SB here in Mousehole, had the honour of carrying the Branch’s Standard at the Festival of Remembrance also.
The story does not end there though because Jessica and Aunt Margaret (Ponder), and also Eileen’s daughter both carried their respective standards at Remembrance Sunday in Mouseole Methodist Church ( see photo)
