Whilst it was active—the formation was obliged to close in October 2012 - the Women’s Section was an ever present part of the village’s RBL its regular coffee mornings and seasonal cream teas raised funds for both the Poppy Appeal, county WS and national WS—nothing could be retained by the individual sections throughout the country—an astonishing, commendable and determined endeavour of diligent and determined service over a period of over half a century.
Gradually numbers actively involved grew fewer and leaving a handful to maintain the successes indicated by the certificates shown below.
During the war years the ladies looked after Legion Hall, had decorated, organised children’s parties, made suggestions for ever present representation at Remembrance Sunday, with immaculately turned out Standard Bearer.

The photo although it is from a more recent occasion shows a typical refreshment spread which the WS could always be
relied upon to provide.
