So, the village had its war memorial and perhaps from that same ‘memorial’ committee an idea may have emerged to have a meeting room.
Who knows?
Anyway what is known is that in November1927 a branch of the British Legion was formed by the East Cornwall Executive and was officially registered
in January 1928 with a membership of 108.
Meetings were probably held in the ‘Friends’ Meeting Room’ in Duck Street.

record we have—kindly provided by Harry Pender. This shows that despite beautiful calligraphy, an incorrect spelling for Duck Street serves as a reminder that the written or printed word
cannot always be taken to be totally accurate!
The annual membership fee is of interest—but then that was in 1928–
