March 2015
My time has run out if this brief glimpse of Legion Hall Mousehole and its various activities is to be delivered by the appointed date of Easter 2015 ( it had been promised much earlier but .........
There is so much more to be said and to be researched.;-
What do we know of Col Sotheby or other worthies of the earlier years Would a list of Officers throughout the years be of interest ?
Information on the former Dinner Dances at eg Carbic Bay Hotel ? Bodmin & Wenford Steam Train outings?
Entertainment and artists?
Snippets of information are constantly comig to light—more would help this little story to expand.
Some fascinating details have recently been received regarding Arnold Gartrell’s naval service, together with those of a very prominent resident.
The section ‘To the Fallen ’ on the www.trblmousehole.co.uk has been
Time-takingly researched to provide a memorable tribute—it would be wonderful if someone could come forward to do similarly for The Fallen of WW2.
I am very conscious of omissions—and any mistakes are mine.
There are some areas which have not been explored fully enough—leaving plenty for another hand to maintain the archive.
Final note:
Legion Hall was the welcoming face for a generation of wartime evacuees some of whom
returned recently. “East End toLand’s End” provides an interesting account of those days.
I have tried to acknowledge those whose pictures and information I have used—and as I said at the start—if there are errors then they are mine or in the written words of years ago when statements might not have been accurately recorded anyway.
