Millennium 2000
The last 15 years have seen Legion Hall maintaining its property– with interior decor including new bar ,removal of the column to the right of the present ’TV’ room. The column itself being a reminder of a much earlier division between the main room and a smaller ‘snug’. For years committees had wondered about the structural safety if that column were ever removed. In the event it was found to be hollw and had no structural properties at all.
The new era saw a huge increase iin available photos some of which have been reproduced in this archive.
The era also saw a greater emphasis on publicity, presentation and Poppy Appeal fundraising in an effort to keep members, residents and visitors alike more aware of ‘What’s On’ events and of the aims and objectives of the RBL.
There was also a significant increase in membership with total in excess of 430 ( including members of the Women’s Section ).
Impetus benefitted from a number of anniversaries occurring beginning in 2003 with the installation in Paul Church of a memorial to Joseph Trewavas VC. and also from increased publicity in ‘The Cornishman’ thanks to having it’s Chief Reporter resident in the village.
